I took these photos of her on the roof during a normal, “dark” night, but of course in our cities it never gets really dark.
Despite of the completely unromantic fact that this wasted light (wasting the energy from the – absolutely save, haha! – nuclear power plants) makes it impossible to see the beauty of the stars, at least it makes it possible to see other beauties – like, for example this young woman from Cuba.
It was not really dark, but dark enough that the autofocus of the camera did not want to work anymore, and it was really hard to find the focus thru the viewfinder…
The first part of the photos I took with a setting of ISO 3200, aperture 1.4 and a 15th second, without any additional light, just what was reflected from the clouds. Then I wanted to add more sharpness (technically 
), put the camera on a tripod, exposed 16 seconds, using aperture 11 with ISO 1000. While the camera exposed the chip I moved around with my hand held flash and flashed at Lulu from different angles, with different intensities.
The result is, as I beleive, a truly artistic and sensual series: One night in Barcelona… Enjoy!

Martina, the young spanish woman with the distinctive face and the slim body is not a typical model-beauty. She is the perfectly normal “girl next door”, but when she undresses she reveals her highly erotic and sensual sides and her initial shyness turns into the obvious desire to be sexy and to show her hot nature.
Her sexiness is so natural and unposed that I show you the results of this photo session without any picture editing: here everything is real, no retouching, no styling, no special light: just a pretty, young woman with a large portion of personal eroticism.
I have split the photos from this session into three series. In the series “The Girl Next Door” you see in beautiful, honest images how Martina from the beginning visibly enjoyed to show her passionate fervency in frivolous poses.

Sometimes it seems that most of the young women fall into panic when they detect a hair on their body. Especially in latin countries, where dark haired people usually are quite hairy, exists a real shaving mania: every girl wants to look “clean” like a porn star or a pre-adolescent baby.
Well, not every girl. Some women are still capable to accept themselves as they are: with skin and hair – despite of the presure from TV and magazines where all the over-retouched, photoshop-enhanced girls show their shiny smirks, fake tits, bleached teeth and perfect skin (after digitally removing all the spots shaving caused in their pubic area… ).
From my point of view, women who feel comfortable with their natural body appear much more sensual and alife than the ones that are running after the actual “musts” and play a show even in the most intimate moments, carefully paying attention to their effect…

A completely different kind of beauty shows Candela, the natural smoking girl with the extremely beautiful, very long blond hair. Although with a heavy make-up, heavily made-up eyes and dark colored lips she apperas much more like a happy and natural young hippie-girl. The result is a small but fine series of photographs of a naked flamenco dancer with a slightly different expression: rather strong poses, serious glances, symbolic gestures, body language…
Of course the poses allow Alicia to show her beautiful young womans body, slim but round – with short, but unshaven pupic hair…

these are healthy cigarettes, they don’t contain tobacco, only plutonium!
Since the terrible nuclear power disaster in Japan we hear it in the news all day long: radioactivity is no danger for your health! A nuclear power plant blows up – no reason to worry! All cancer comes from smoking, you know! And we are very happy that there were no cigarettes burning in the reactor: imagine the desastrous cloud that would have been floating around the world, killing us all. But it was a clean, non-smoking nunclear power-plant: pure health!
Ok, enough of rant, I already wrote about my opinion about Why I take more photos of smoking nude girls and about the dangers of radioactivity long time ago…

what is the beautiful nude girl afraid of?
When you look at her face you could come to the conclusion that the photogapher of this nude must be quite a scary guy.
But I can put your mind at ease. There was no reason to be freightened for the young model, although I took these photos in an absolutely dark room…
In fact I was experimenting with Off-Cam flash, searching for some kind of special effects. I placed the camera on the tripod, turned off the light, opened the cameras shutter with B setting so it stayed open and walked around my model flashing at her several times from different positions. Because of the various flahes there are various shadows, and of course the body of the girl is also lighted from different angles, thus giving a quite nonnatural, or even morbid, charme to the photo.

Of course one can play a lot with this kind of lightning. Especially when there is a little movement like in the image to the right (I released the flash three times during half a minute or so) you get kind of a double-exposure effect. One has to be quite careful, that the changes of the positions of the model between the single flashes are not too big or the image will get really strange…
However, of course I also experimented with more movement, with very strange and different positions of the flash and although I really worked carefully and thought a lot before releasing the flash, some results surprised me: half planned, half by chance.
When the time comes, as always, I will publish the whole series on www.guapamania.com. But meanwhile I am updating the site with some more “classic” nudes

Life is hard. Sometimes. And sometimes it’s just marvellous.
If you ever looked out for suitable photo models, you know how hard a model search can be. You endlessly look at applicants, just to choose a few. You take test photos, and again decrease the number of possible models. You organize a first photo session with the remaining ones, to find out that only one, maybe, really is capable to pose freely and good and furthermore arrives on schedule, freshly showered, with a clean skin, in a good temper…

But then there are the lucky days!
Imagine: you open your studio’s door and a beautiful young woman steps inside. You talk with her and realize that she understands what you want in nudes photography, that she has what you want to capture from a model, that she thinks, it’s a great idea to take the photos of her that you want. You work with her from the beginning as if you already would have worked with her many times. It just works. You can concentrate on on the expression of the model, on the light, the camera, without to need to use a lot of words (well, I still talk a lot, even if I don’t have to… ).
Such things happen sometimes to me, I guess I’m a lucky photographer. But they don’t happen every day, even if you’re a photographer who has worked and works with a lot of women. Yana – you have already seen her in this blog several times and you can see the results of the first session with Yana here… – is such a stroke of luck for me. Obviously she’s my favourite model at the moment.
We worked together for several sessions during this summer, and I like the results very much. Yana is very talented, her sensuality comes from inside, is a part of her, she doesn’t have to play anything. She moves very freely and she knows how to pose beautifully. Yana also was and is model for my individual photography workshops and all of the participiants where completely happy to work with her (if you hurry up and with some luck you can still arange a workshop appointment: see link above and contact me for details…).

When Yana and I went to the beach for a photo session for the first time, we met at Plaza Catalunya before 6 o’clock in the morning to take the train up the coast. Allthough it was still very early in the morning when we arrived at the beach, Yana was very awake – as you can see in the photos series “Yana: beautyful girl on the rocks”.
It’s a series of very beautiful, artistic yet sensual nudes of a young woman – sometimes appearing as a playful, innocent girl and somtimes an attractive, experienced woman… Go, download the series, you will see at lot more of her. And you will like what you see. The model and the photography!

While most pedestrians kindly greeted in a typically Spanish (or Catalan?) way, stood for a few seconds to throw a glance at the nude model that moved freely and completely uninhibited, and to address some flattering compliments to the beautiful young woman with the long wild hair, the delicious curves and the thick bush of black pubic hair, only one single viewer all the time placed himself into the picture, where he looked „uninterested unobtrusively“ from the corners of his eyes how Susana showed herself to me and my camera. And unfortunately he did not want to leave. Here he is…

It is still no problem to photograph a nude model in public in Barcelona. Yet one can move around freely and completely naked, it is expressly allowed.
In this wonderful city one is quite familiar with a lot of crazy things and most of the people love to live in a metropolis, where things happen that are not possible elsewhere. Where Mediterranean joy of life mix with hard-assed big-business. Where tourists keep their wallets and cameras ready for the many pickpockets. Where nameless artists informally meet with celebrities, where art, culture and commerce in every conceivable variety praise themselves loud and flashy, or Spanish-charming with liveliness or slushy.
But unfortunately politicians also want to do something sometimes, though certainly nothing important. Therefore, for some time they violently argue, if the police should take urgent care that no more tourists saunter through the hot summer streets shirtless just with shorts or swimwear. Nudity, of course, shall be banned. In particular, those who approach the nude beaches most likely only with the binoculars out of their air-conditioned cars with tinted windows, lead an equally bitter and ridiculous-looking combat against the decadence. After all, no one wants to prohibit the many pretty girls to emphasize their charms by wearing tight and scanty clothes.
Actually, the attitude of this political farce perfectly fits the medieval atmosphere of the old town. It is just far less beautiful and attractive. It’s just politics. And while the press eagerly pushes the supposedly hot topic which allows them to scribble one or two long articles without using the otherwise ubiquitous word “crisis”, most people could not care less.
I would venture to say that the artistic and beautiful nudes in the two series nude in Barcelona 2 and nude in Barcelona 3 will not be the last daring art productions that come into being in this “City of Marvels” (Eduardo Mendoza)!

This young, vibrant French woman lived in Barcelona for a while before she was engaged by a very well known britisch TV-channel in London, where she now works. And hopefully gets rich and famous…

When she applied for a model session she wrote “I find interesting the idea to mix fashion with art, to be a part of culture and send messages, emotions through my body, my expressions.” She appeared to the shooting carrying some flowers and a colorful miniskirt.
I very much enjoyed working with her – in the series the naked television presenter shows her beautiful naked body in dreamy artistic nudes in simple, classic poses.
On some photos she looks rather like a young inexperienced girl, but her sometimes sleepy, sometimes absent and sometimes provocative views prove that she undoubtedly is woman through and through – and of course her adult body with the tight little girls breasts, the round but, the beautiful back and the shaven pussy lips show that there’s no doubt about it…

As you can see on the photo below, the water on the beaches on the Mediterranean near Barcelona ist still quite cold.
Because of the sun (but also because of the peepers that populate the beaches here and who think – in completely false estimation – that is is very tempting when they point in our direction with their shaven, half erect little boy dicks) the beautiful model and I had to meet very early: at 5:45h, it was still dark, both of us half asleep. But well, the cold water on the beach did it’s refreshing job and the sexy girl soon was more than awake…

I took quite a lot of pictures and I had to copy my compact flash cards to a portable hard disk – that didn’t work!
So the next day I went to buy some additional memory cards. I first took a look in the web and found that such a card would cost approx. 70 Euros in Switzerland. I was quite surprised, when I saw in FNAC that the card costs € 127.00 there. I crossed Plaza Catalunya and went to the 7th floor of EL CORTE INGLES. Now sit back: you know what they want for the same card? More than 200 Euros! Unbelievable! I could afford a flight Switzerland and back, have a nice meal, by the card, and still save some money! Anybody wonders about the crisis in Spain??
Ok, there’s another street with a lot of large and small shops and I finally found the same card for 79 Euros. The difference? Just a blister package instead of a luxurious box, just the card, no additional “free” CD with some Windows-programs nobody really needs.
So finally I didn’t have to fly home, just walk some more minutes. And once again, I realized how important it is to have a good look at the prices, compare the offers and never believe the publicity lies like “always best offer”.
Except, of course, on guapamania.com ! I really try to give realistic descriptions of what I offer there without using superlatives, allthough some of the series would be worth using them. See for yourself!

This pretty, young Argentinian girl applied to be a model for my artistic nudes workshops and as I uploaded a series of her nudes and lingerie photos on guapamania today (Lucía: pretty Argentina in Spain) I use this opportunity to talk a bit about my method of selecting models.
I know, some of my friends here in Barcelona call me a typical Swiss: paranoiac and super-serious … and I know there are many photographers and workshops around that just book a model from a modeling page or upon some samples the model sent to the photographer or organizer. But still: I’d never engage models for my workshops with which I havn’t already worked successfully before the course starts.
When a model applies I invite her for a personal talk, look at her, take a few test shots and arrange a first session – I’ve already talked about that earlier.
During this shootings I encourage the models to show me themselves from their various sides, to try to imagine different situations, to give me different expressions. I change the light two or three times, or use the various possibilities that the studio offers to achieve a representative profile of the models capabilities. The result of that session then shows me, if I’d like to engage this model for a workshop or for further photo sessions.
The series I uploaded today on guapamania.com shows the result of such a first session. To give the viewer some more direct information I left some of the photos completely unedited, they appear just as they came out of the camera. Others I edited and retouched – you can see the difference in the skin and, in this case more obviously, in the table, that has no more stains after the processing with gimp. I even converted some of the images to black and white, which need different handling in contrasts, lights and shadows. If you’re interested, download the series!
