Well, to come to the point directly: masturbating women for sure are a very tender subject, and an issue that takes quite a lot of room within mens brains – porn moovies are filled with corresponding scenes. When working with Yolanda it soon turned out that she really was capable (and enjoyed) to play with herself in front of the camera while almost forgetting that there is a photographer in the same room following her with his camera. So I just had to think about how to portray her lustful way from the start till the climax without being intrusive, without giving too much instruction – and, important, without slipping into the typical masculine images that I have in mind, of course, as most of us heterosexual males do. I decided to use available light only, to not disturb the mood with bouncing flashes, and to keep a physical and visible distance while just beeing a quiet observer.
I believe that the result really convinces. It is a series of very sensual, in its own way very hot and revelaing photos and I believe the mood, the feelings, the lust and joy of the moment can be felt viewing them. The series is called Art and Orgasm… and you can find it here…

I love black-and-white photos. Back in times, when I worked with negative film – in fact during about 30 years – I loved the process of taking photos slowly and carefully.

On a single film for my analog Hasselblad I could take 12 shots. Imagine! Now I have 32 GB space on a single memory chip and I can click and click and click without even thinking…
When taking photos on black-and-white negative film you have to think before you shoot. You have to take special care about contrasts, control the light, maybe check it using some Polaraoids with the exchangeable camera back… I never used zoom lenses, I thought about perspective, angle, point of view… before pressing the button.
This all has changed a lot. However sometimes I really feel like working in the same manner as I did it for years. Just using a digital camera now (I mostly work with a Canon 5D Mark II). But I take care about the light, I measure the contrasts, I search carefully for the poses and try to compose the images before I click. I get that nostalgic feeling of seriously working and using my photographic knowledge and skills, and I love it!
If you look at the images of the latest series “Catarine: black-and-white nudes” you’ll see a series of images that arn’t even cropped. They are just as they came out of the camera, no changes at all – except of converting to black-and-white and adjusting contrasts as you would do it in the classic dark room.
Sure, the images are sensual and erotic. But when taking these photos I was in a very artistic mood, to say so. I just wanted to make art, nothing else. Have a look, and descide yourself if i reached the goal…
I shoot in raw format. I don’t use any camera effects and so what I get is a color image that I convert to black-and-white using my favorite photo management program digikam.

I’ve put those images that show more explicit details into a separate series. The photos are from the same session, obviously, but for the black-and-white “pure art series” I selected only those images that are not too much focused on intimate details, while the hotter part is here…
Allthough the explicit series contains some images that are very focused on the unshaven pussy of the young italian model, I still consider it as artistic work.
There is always a very small line between art and porn and a lot of people attach the distinction to the fact whether genitals are visible or not. Actually I think the difference lays more in the manner how the things are shown than what is shown, and if you ask me, then these photos are far from beeing porn, although the expression for sure is very sexual.

It is still no problem to photograph a nude model in public in Barcelona. Yet one can move around freely and completely naked, it is expressly allowed.
In this wonderful city one is quite familiar with a lot of crazy things and most of the people love to live in a metropolis, where things happen that are not possible elsewhere. Where Mediterranean joy of life mix with hard-assed big-business. Where tourists keep their wallets and cameras ready for the many pickpockets. Where nameless artists informally meet with celebrities, where art, culture and commerce in every conceivable variety praise themselves loud and flashy, or Spanish-charming with liveliness or slushy.
But unfortunately politicians also want to do something sometimes, though certainly nothing important. Therefore, for some time they violently argue, if the police should take urgent care that no more tourists saunter through the hot summer streets shirtless just with shorts or swimwear. Nudity, of course, shall be banned. In particular, those who approach the nude beaches most likely only with the binoculars out of their air-conditioned cars with tinted windows, lead an equally bitter and ridiculous-looking combat against the decadence. After all, no one wants to prohibit the many pretty girls to emphasize their charms by wearing tight and scanty clothes.
Actually, the attitude of this political farce perfectly fits the medieval atmosphere of the old town. It is just far less beautiful and attractive. It’s just politics. And while the press eagerly pushes the supposedly hot topic which allows them to scribble one or two long articles without using the otherwise ubiquitous word “crisis”, most people could not care less.
I would venture to say that the artistic and beautiful nudes in the two series nude in Barcelona 2 and nude in Barcelona 3 will not be the last daring art productions that come into being in this “City of Marvels” (Eduardo Mendoza)!
